While studying and being a GP in Australia is gratifying, it also faces challenges, especially when practicing in rural communities.

With more opportunities in metropolitan areas, some GPs decide to not practice in rural communities, making it more challenging for a community to be healthy. Also, some doctors in regional areas cannot access their proper certificates to continue attending their practices.

A new program by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners aims to boost the numbers in regional communities with a new online flexible program to keep their qualifications without disrupting their working hours. The program will also incentivise GPs to move to regional areas, where they are needed the most.
