New drug testing laws will come into effect in South Australia next Monday as the government tries to offer better protection against child abuse.

The law comes after a 2016 royal commission found more than 260 recommendations in improving child protection laws.

The new laws will also safeguard aboriginal children and make sure their cultural and family heritage are kept.
