On Friday, changes to Australian immigration laws passed through the Senate after a bipartisan agreement between the Liberals and Labor over a range of migration amendments.

Changes to immigration legislation will enable the government to pay third countries to resettle individuals with cancelled visas, imposing possible gaol time on individuals who fail to comply with deportation orders and would impose limitations on access to mobile phones in detention centres.
