The guide will showcase the cultural protocols journalists need to research.

This week, Media Diversity Australia, along with the ABC and the National Congress of Australia’s First People, produced and launched a guide on how to report on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander affairs. The guide shows why journalists need to follow cultural protocols within the Indigenous communities across Australia. While the number of Indigenous news sources have increased over the years, most of the reporting is still done by mainstream newsrooms.

The guide was launched during NAIDOC week, and it is the first version of a more robust document due to appear in the future.
