A team of five Australians with disabilities travelled to Fiji in June this year as part of a new skills exchange program.
The Disability Empowerment Skills Exchange is an initiative that’s part of the Australian Volunteers for International Development program, funded by the federal government and aims to make international volunteering programs more inclusive and to give volunteers the chance to offer life skills to others with disabilities overseas.
Organisers of the skills exchange trip Scope Global said this first trip was a big success and is looking to organise more trips in the future.
