People with a disability are often disadvantaged when facing the criminal justice system. Disabled Queenslanders should fair better, now that the state’s first Disability Criminal Justice Centre will be established in Toowoomba, Western Queensland. A State government grant of $134,000 was awarded to The Advocacy and Support Centre to train legal professionals on disability issues within the criminal justice system. Eileen Tang spoke with CEO of TASC, Dan Toombs about what the funding means for disabled defendants.
