After over twenty years on our television screens, Neighbours is “outing” its first male gay character. While both Neighbours and it’s soapie sister Home and Away have featured lesbian relationships before, this is the first time a significant male character has come out on prime time television. And while it may seem a long time in the making, advocates for same sex youth say it’s an important step forward.
