NDIS to go ahead – but only in Labor states

There willl be many disability advocates across the country disappointed today – but not those living in Tasmania South Australia and the ACT – the three remaining Labor states are the only states who agreed to go a ahead with the National Disability Insurance Scheme at COAG in Canberra today.
The Prime Minister Julia Gillard said the federal government was looking for New South Wales and Victoria to kick in $100 million between them towards establishing the scheme – but they couldn’t agree. In South Australia the scheme has the support of Premier Jay Weatherill, and will focus on young people.
