A coronial inquest into a young girl’s death in the remote Indigenous community of Doomadgee opened in Townsville today. Naylor Warden was four years old, and suffering from a respiratory tract infection. Her family say it took four visits to the hospital before she was seen by a doctor, who performed surgery, but it was too late and Naylor Warden died later that day. So was this a case of racism, as the family claim, negligence or a systemic problem with remote Indigenous health.
