Today, the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care launched a National Sepsis Clinical Standard Care.

The aim is to help the health sector to diagnose sepsis on time, particularly in First Nations and remote communities, where sepsis is more prevalent.

Around 55,000 Australians are diagnosed with sepsis, and more than 8,000 die because of the condition.

The standard care will quickly reduce the risk of death and long term sequels for patients.
