The Productivity Commission has revealed their recommendations for a radical overhaul of disability services in Australia. Under the plan, for the first time in our history, we would have a national insurance scheme designed to cater to long- term care for the disabled. The Productivity Commission wants the new scheme to begin in 2014, but the government needs to find an extra 6.3 billion dollars in funding from taxes, spending cuts or a combination of the two. People with disabilities are urging the government to adopt the recommendations. They say that the current system is unfair and unsustainable.
