National Broadband Network deemed “too expensive”

It’s been feted as the biggest infrastructure venture in Australia’s history since the Snowy Mountains Hydro Electric scheme, which was completed in 1974. But the National Broadband Network is facing some stumbling blocks in parliament. Opposition spokesperson for communications Malcolm Turnbull wants a cost-benefit analysis of the project, saying that the Government is being “reckless and imprudent”. But is it possible to predict the benefits that high-speed broadband will bring to our society and economy?
