Retail giant Myer is in the hot seat over allegations management mis-used Occupational Health and Safety rules to “move on” an older employee. Patricia Pitfield is 61, and couldn’t complete aspects of an OH & S test that required her to climb steps and squat. She was sent home indefinitely without pay, with no indication of when she’d be returned to work. Patricia says that she never needed to squat or climb steps to do her job, and the United Services Union is planning to take her case to the anti discrimination board.
