Muslim Women offer different perspective on Hijabs

Are Burqas and Hijabs oppressive? Are they sexist? What about extremist? These are the questions being raised as some Federal Parliamentarians call for their ban, and activists don them in support. But what about the Women in the middle of this crossfire? For many, a Hijab, which is a head covering that leaves the face exposed, represents other things. It could represent empowerment, culture or even feminism. While shock jocks and politicians pontificate, let’s listen to the voices of those wearing the garments.
