Rupert Murdoch’s takeover of British Sky news is expected to be approved within days. Online advocacy group AVAAZ have launched a campign to try to stop what they say would be a move which would give Murdoch a dangerous amount of influence, similar to what his Fox network currently enjoys in the US. Media law expert Professor Rick Sarre from UniSA says the media landscape is now so complex that people can still choose between many news sources, that media do and that the move should be seen in the context of a way of shoring up Murdoch’s failing print empire.
