The 'Walls of China' in Mungo National Park, home to the Mungo Man

It’s a momentous day for Indigenous Australians, as the oldest known archaeological remains are returned to their traditional land.

The Mungo Man has today began his journey back home to the Mutthi Mutthi community, who will then decide how to best deal with the body.

The archaeological treasure spent over forty years at the Australian National University, and has been at the Australian Museum in Canberra for the past year.

The Wire’s Cody Tsaousis reports.
