Mumps makes a comeback in young adults

Doctor’s fear a resurgence of the contagious viral infection commonly known as mumps. Most australian school-aged children receive immunisation against mumps as well as other diseases such as meningitis and measles, but not everyone is covered. A study published in the Medical Journal of Australia says that young adults are now at more at risk of contracting the disease. Epidemiologist Dr Gary Dowse says this may mean that a new vaccine is needed. The Wire’s Kate Pinnock asked him why we ’re seeing this latest outbreak.
