Following on from Tuesday’s report on findings by Mission Australia stating that imprisoning youth costs over $150, 000 a year, per person. Last Friday the Commissioner for Children, Young People and Child Guardians released results of a survey into young people held in the two Queensland judicial detention centres. The survey focused on things like activities undergone in detention, how useful these might be to young people while addressing how they came to detention in the first place and the transition back into the community successfully at the end of a sentence.
