The controversial technology of coal seam gas mining has now found its way from rural Queensland to inner Sydney. A drilling site planned for the suburb of Saint Peters is designed to tap in to large methane gas reserves underneath the city, in a bid to potentially decrease carbon emissions. But while it sounds good, environmentalists are worried about the potential for water table contamination in highly populated urban areas.
