Mining boom linked to increase in HIV infections

In a report launched today it was revealed that in WA there has been a 68 per cent increase in heterosexual men contracting HIV overseas. The rise has been linked to the mining boom, with many of the well-paid workers using their time off on holidays in Asia. Executive director of the Western Australian Aids Council Trish Langdon says they are working on strategies to prevent further increases.
