Overseas students pursuing accreditations in fields like accounting, cookery and hairdressing may have their prospects for migration visas disappear, under proposed changes to Australia’s skilled migration program. The proposals—a bid to tackle labour shortages in high-skilled areas such as mining, healthcare and engineering—will leave many students futures uncertain. Other changes include the canceling of 20,000 skilled migrant applications all over two years old.
