Has recession brought middle class homelessness to Australia? St Vincent de Paul are indicating a marked increase in the number of people requiring assistance because they have found themselves without a home. What is peculiar about the findings is these people are middle class families from the private rental market who are victims of increasing unemployment and the cost of renting. The sleepout involves a number of business leaders doing it rough for an eve to raise money and awareness for the homeless population.
