Mexican femicide ignored

In the dusty Mexican border town of Juarez, more than 400 women have been killed or gone missing since 1993. Most of the victims are poor students or migrant factory workers. Despite pressure to catch the killers, locals say the government and police continue to turn a blind eye. On Saturday, local group Sydney Action for Juarez marched in the International Women’s Day parade to protest the femicide.
