The recent Bondi event has created many misconceptions about mental health, the motivations of the offender and the number of women that were killed.
Distinguished Professor James Ogloff, the Dean of the School of Health Sciences at Swinburne University was interviewed and unpacked the reality for people living with Schizophrenia, how violence and mental illnesses are not directly related, whether or not the police could have taken a different approach and how mental illness itself is not a sufficient explanation for violence against women, according to Professor Ogloff.
