Mental health sufferers benefit from housing program

Mental health sufferers in NSW are reaping the benefits of a state government initiative to provide them with safe and affordable accomodation. This according to a study conducted by the University of New South Wales Social Policy Research Centre which revealed that the NSW Government’s Housing and Accomodation Support Innitiative (HASI) has led to an 84% reduction in hospitalistion rate among the scheme’s particpants. NSW Minister for Housing Matt Brown highlighted that one of the key achievements of the program was its potential to allow participants to connect with thier communities, easing tension and establishing friendships and improving familiy relationships along the way.
