It use to be that you got locked up in an Asylum if you had mental health problems, but these days the hospital system is the front line for those in need of treatment.
The trouble is, the paperwork and bureaucracy means that there is less time for patient care and that senior psychiatrists are being called on to sign off on all decisions day and night. This unrelenting pressure caused the principal character in the ABC series Changing Minds, Senior Psychiatrist Mark Cross, to resign and leave the system. He gives us some insight into the problems people face every day.
