Climate change, disadvantage and a shortage of medical professionals continues to undermine the state of mental health in rural Australia. The Centre for Rural and Remote Mental Heath opened a conference in Cairns today to discuss international strategies to combat the problem. The ‘Creating Futures’ conference aims to help Australian agencies explore ways to improve services for farming and indigenous communities battling drought and isolation.
