A sterilization program in Puning City, Southern China, was officially expected to end yesterday. The 20 day campaign- launched on April 7 this year- aimed to sterilize almost 10, 000 men and women in the regional area. China’s one child policy was introduced in 1978, in an attempt to control the burgeoning growth of the world’s most populous country, but this policy has had far reaching and devastating effects.
