The NSW Government has announced a $10 million roll-out of Taser stun-guns to all front-line police officers. This is despite the State Ombudsman recommending a two-year trial period, and a review of guidelines and training for the weapon’s use. Civil liberty groups are concerned they’ll be used to intimidate, and for minor acts of non-compliance. So, why have Police been pushing for electro-shock weapons?
