Kim Mahood is a writer and artist who grew up in the Tanami desert. The station her parents owned has been returned to the land’s traditional owners but the lure of the country takes her back each year to live with those people and record the landscape and the communities. Her words and her art serve as a way of mapping for white Australia the many layers of meaning and history in the mysterious landscape of the desert.
