Twenty years ago, the average fashion model weighed 8% less than the average woman. In 2012, she weighs 23% less. It’s pretty startling, but Israel has made an official move to stop this trend.

As of today, models with Body Mass Indexes (or BMI) lower than 18.5 are no longer allowed to appear in adverts in Israel- unless they gain weight.
