In the 1990’s Mad Cow disease cut down the European cattle industry and recently Canada got a scare when an infected cow was found in the state of Alberta. In the USA however the cattle industry is using their political clout to keep inspections at a minimum. Public Campaign are a non-profit and non-partisan group that try to slow down the flow of money from interest groups to political parties. Jonathan Lucraft spoke to Nancy Watzman, Public Campaign’s Investigative Projects Director, about the power of US Beef.
