Not only are more young people unemployed, new research shows they are out of the work force for longer periods of time as well. The average length of unemployment is now 29 weeks, impacting on financial and emotional well-being. With employers demanding more skills, entry-level jobs are harder to find and that’s making it harder to break the unemployment cycle. For organisation Brotherhood of St. Laurence, more specific action is wanted on the issue.
