The yakka skink and ornamental snake are the latest hurdle for Adani’s planned Carmichael coal mine in central Queensland. Approval for the Indian company’s $16 billion plan for what would become one of the world’s biggest coal mines, has been set aside in a federal court decision. The fate of the project now rests with Environment Minister Greg Hunt.
