‘Lingerie’ Football League beats established womens sport on Aussie TV

Legends Football League, once Lingerie Football League, is a form of women’s Gridiron with one immediately obvious distinction. The players are wearing what appears to be underwear. Channel 7’s male-focused station 7mate will be broadcasting LFL games starting this weekend. It has already attracted criticism for making a sexual spectacle out of women’s sport when many female sportspeople have long been struggling to get coverage on Australian television. We spoke to Julia Birks, President of the Western Foxes, a gridiron team from Victoria who play in full uniform, who says that the LFL leaves much wanting, including proper safety protection for the players.
