At Gloriavale Christian Community children grew up in an authoritarian atmosphere, wearing uniforms and living in dormitories.  Lillia Tarawa’s grandfather founded the cult but she and her family fled when she was a teenager. After she left she found her grandfather had been charged with child sexual offences. Lilia says it was hard to adjust to life on the outside and she has written a book to explain her childhood and the journey it has taken her on.
