Nearly 1000 blue collar workers in South Australia are set to lose their jobs in March when the Mitsubishi manufacturing plant closes its doors. State and Federal governments are promising training, counselling and job development in Adelaide’s disadvantaged southern suburbs. Associate Professor John Spoehr from the University of Adelaide’s Centre for Labour research says there are lessons to be learned from how the last big job losses from Mistubishi were handled by both the company andthe government.
