Gladys Berijiklean become the first woman to win a NSW Election, taking her Government into its third term in power after elections on Saturday.

The polls had the race at 50/50 right up until polling day, but the Labor party fell well short of the 13 seats needed to gain majority Government, picking up between 2-3 from the Government.

Labor leader Michael Daley has stepped down from the role, pending a leadership ballot to be held after the Federal election.
