New Matilda is one of Australia’s first independent media outlets to take advantage of the Internet. It was a new medium, where independent thinkers with great ideas were thought to do well, But we soon leant that competition is even tuffer on the net, people rarely want to pay for their news and high audience views does not necessarily equal high advertising revenue. If New Matilda can’t reach their current fundraising target by the 15th of December, this won’t just be a threat or a possibility, the website will be shutting down.
