Lack of Indigenous works in Australian theatres

A study by the Australia Council for the Arts reveals only 2 per cent of the almost 6000 theatrical works programmed last year were by First Nations people.

Two thirds of theatre companies did not feature Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander work at all.

Of those who did, twelve accounted for more than a third of productions with companies like Carriageworks and Belvoir St Theatre the notable exceptions.
