The Australian Labor Party has today laid out it’s policy plan for Indigenous Australians – should they win federal government in October. Shadow spokesman on Indigenous Affairs, Tasmanian Senator Kerry O’Brien, was talking up the policy after the Darwin launch – but does it promise the level of funding needed to address the shameful state of Indigenous health and other serious challenges? While Labor says Reconciliation would become central and Indigenous Australians would gain self-governance, the policy platform is short on the detail of how this would be achieved.
