Labor’s contradictory position on death penalty

With the five year anniversary of the Bali bombings this Friday, the question of Australia’s stance on the death penalty has emerged once again. Labor’s foreign affairs spokesman Robert McClelland presented a speech last night saying Australia’s government should oppose the death penalty for foreign terrorists as well as Australian citizens. But this morning, Labor leader Kevin Rudd stressed that a Labor government would never attempt to have a terrorist’s death penalty overturned.
