La Nina event fails to bring expected rain to inland Australia

We all know we’ve been short of rain this winter in Australia and here’s some evidence to explain part of the reason why. While the El Nino effect is known to cause drought in Australia, La Nina normally has the opposite effect, bringing large amounts of rain. But the current La Nina has failed to bring the usual increase in rainfall to inland Australia becuase of unusually low surface temperatures in the Indian Ocean.
