Stroke is the second biggest cause of death in Australia. One in six people are affected by stroke in their lifetime, and it is a leading cause of disability. More than 17,000 will occur in NSW alone this year. But the good news that most people don’t know is that many strokes are preventable. National Stroke Week was launched across the country today to raise awareness on how to prevent stroke and how to identify symptoms. We headed to Bankstown Hospital in Sydney for an event held by the National Stroke Foundation and spoke with survivors and health professionals.
