With tax and super likely to dominate the Budget next week, there’s little detail on what money might flow to or from the communications area. And yet for community media a lot rests on persuading the government to continue to fund its digital transmission costs. Without forward funding of almost 4 million dollars the 37 community stations currently broadcasting on the digital spectrum are likely to cease to exist. Senator Nick Xenophon says he will take the funding issue to the election as he campaigns with his new party the Nick Xenophon team.
