A new book, aimed at promoting better health reporting by journalists, has criticised the media for providing the public with innaccurate health information. Entitled Smart Health Choices: Making Sense of Health Advice, the book argues that the media’s sensationalising medical breakthroughts and exaggerating the side effects of drugs and medical procedures is short-changing the public, who use the media as an important source of health information.
