Jordan dismayed over Amman shootings
Jordan has reacted with horror and dismay to the shooting of tourists in the capital of Amman on Monday, which left one British tourist killed and six wounded, including Australian and a New Zealander. The shootings by a lone gunman with a criminal record follows attacks carried out last November, which saw 57 people killed. While that attack was attributed to the Jordanian-born terrorist, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi it is not yet known what motivated the shooter Nabil Ahmad. The man came from the Jordanian town of Zarqa, the home town of Abu Al Zakawi, who was killed in Iraq earlier this year by US forces, however, it is not yet know if he is linked to any terrorist groups. The Wire spoke earlier to today with Hasan Abunimah, a former Jordanian ambassador to the UN and a weekly columnist for English and Arabic newspapers in Amman.
