From the age of 6 years old, Jelena Dokić suffered beatings and abuse from her father Damir Dokić, for whom the only option was winning – winning matches each and every time even when she was still a young girl playing the top players.

Jelena had the talent, she had beaten the best – Kim Clijsters, the Williams sisters, Monica Seles – but after years of abuse and embarassing violent outbursts by Damir who had forced her to play for Yugoslavia rather than Australia , Jelena finally managed to get away from him, appointed a new coach and came back to Australia.

Her coach Borna Bikic had a younger brother Tin, and Jelena and Tin have now been together for 14 years,
