Poverty has been off the political agenda for too long, despite standing out as a major problem for the well being of our community and our economy. According to ACOSS, people in the highest 20% income group receive around five times the amount of people in the bottom 20%. It’s now Anti-Poverty week and ACOSS has joined with social service councils to make a national plan to tackle the issue of poverty.
