The sparkle and glitz of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is over for another year. Over 300,000 spectators watched the parade make its way up and Oxford and Flinders Streets in Sydney on Saturday night. The 10,000 paraders on 135 floats were celebrating gay life throughout the world under this year’s theme of Nations United. It’s the greatest gay show on the planet but does the Mardi Gras still have political relevance?
